Gampo Abbey

Vidyadhara Institute Shedra

Dear Sangha,

Greetings from Gampo Abbey’s monastic community! We would like to extend a deep gesture of gratitude to all who contributed to our Shedra scholarship fund last year – we were able to send 7 monastics to the program entirely on the support of the lay sangha!

This spring, four monastics are seeking financial assistance for participation in the 2006 spring semester of the Vidyadhara Institute, Gampo Abbey’s monastic college.

Studying in this manner is a rare opportunity and the cost of the ten-week semester of intensive study $1,000 CAN is dramatically less expensive than comparable programs. A total of $950 is still needed for all four monastics to participate, and any assistance you may be able to provide, would be deeply appreciated.

One of the cornerstones of monastic training at Gampo Abbey is the study of Buddhist philosophy and logic. The year’s curriculum includes the study of the Bodhicharyavatara with Ani Pema Chodron, Mahamudra with Gelong Lodro Sangpo, and Lorik with Dr. Karl Brunnholzl.
