MEMBERSHIP

A member is someone who meets the following criteria:

1. A member is one who makes a connection to mindfulness-awareness practice, and/or contemplative practices based on mindfulness-awareness, and is interested in deepening his or her experience by integrating this into daily life. Based on this connection, members are empowered to serve the community by supporting its activities financially and by taking on appropriate responsibilities.

2. The person has a connection with the Davis Center specifically, and should have some involvement with the activities of the Center.

3. The person realizes that membership in this community implies financial support on the Center. We suggest a monthly donation of $40 for regular membership or $15 for student/supporting membership. Persons wishing to offer more or less may arrive at an amount by consulting with their MI, Bill Fell (530 753-2846), or Kathy Robinson (530 756-8890). The current range of monthly dues is $1 to $330. The most important issue for the Center is the regularity of payments, not the amount. Click Here for a direct deposit form. Work-study is always available.

4 It is recommended that the person has a meditation instructor (MI) belonging to the Shambhala Buddhist tradition. It is important that there is someone on a similar path who is trained and dedicated to working with students on their path of practice and study.

All members are given the opportunity to see where the money comes from and how it is spent. For that reason, the Comptroller will provide the most recent monthly financial statement. Prior monthly statements are available to all members. They are in the red binder above the telephone entitled "Minutes & Financial Statements."

For further information, please talk with any meditation instructor or contact Bill Fell at (530) 753-2846 or Kathy Robinson (530 756-8890).
